Abstract

1,079,809. Settling. PATERSON CANDY INTERNATIONAL Ltd. Sept. 3, 1965 [Oct. 27, 1964], No. 43877/64. Heading B1D. Water containing coagulants enters mixing vessel 1 by inlet pipe 10 and decanted water leaves by channel 11. Sludge settling on the floor 2 is moved to trough 4 by scraper 5 for removal by pipe 9. Some excess sludge is allowed to mix with the incoming stream to give enhanced settling. In modifications described in Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) baffles give an enhanced feed-back of sludge.
