Abstract

1386152 Dispensing liquids PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 March 1972 [31 March 1971] 14514/72 Heading A4T A device for dispensing small quantities of liquids comprises a rotor 1 enveloped by a housing 2, the rotor or housing having in their opposed faces, at least one helical groove for pumping liquid, the axis of the rotor being vertical, means 11, 12 for driving the rotor, the housing having at one end an outlet aperture 4, and the other end being in communication with an auxiliary container 5. This container has a cover 6 incorporating two tubes, one, 7, extending further into the container than the other 8. Tube 8 is wider than tube 7 and the end of tube 8 within the container is cut at an angle to the horizontal. The other ends of the tubes can be in communication with a closed container 21 for the liquid dispensed. The auxiliary container acts as a constant level device to maintain substantially constant pressure above the rotor. The drive shaft 12 from electric motor 11 passes through an aperture in the cover 6, and plate 13 is provided to collect any liquid splashes, throw them out by centrifugal force to flange 14, where they are deflected down and drain back into the auxiliary container via aperture 22.
