Abstract

672,885. Mixing appliances; centrifugal machines. YOUNG, R. W. April 4, 1950 [Dec. 15, 1948], No. 32459/48. Classes 23 and 86 Apparatus for mixing cement, particularly lightweight or aerated cement or concrete comprises a plurality of blades 9 extending outwardly in a curved manner from a hub 7 on a rotatable shaft 6 and disposed in the lower conical portion 4 of a chamber 2 so that rotation of the stirrer causes the material to follow a convolute path around the container. A ring 13 may be secured to the upper edges of the blades to assist circulation. In operation the shaft 6 is rotated and the chamber 2 charged with a predetermined quantity of water and foaming agent after which sand and cement is added. An aperture 5, closed by a door, (not shown), is provided for discharge of the mixed product.
