Abstract
651,891. Walls; wall and ceiling linings. BEAN & CO., Ltd., J. H. and KNOTHE, H. Dec. 19, 1947, No. 33692. [Class 20(iv)] In a partition, wall lining &c. fibre, plaster, laminated &c. boards and " tophat" section strips, arranged with their flanges covering the board edges on one face and the channel mouth facing the boards, are held together by spaced clips which pass between the edges of adjacent boards or round the edges of end boards, these clips being of sheet material bent to form parallel arms connected at a point over the centre of the channel mouth and which embrace the board edges with or without a light grip, one of each pair of parallel arms having means for locating the clip on a cover strip flange. As shown in Fig. 9 the locating means comprises an open bead 2 fitting over the flange and a pressed up tongue 11 abutting against the internal wall of the cover strip; a pointed barb 4 on one or both arms, and a projecting bead 12 on the arm remote from the cover strip, may serve to grip the board. Fig. 1 shows two such clips formed backto-back from a single strip, the tongues 11 being in this case unnecessary; when the boards form a lining for an existing wall the connecting portion 13 may be curved to space them from the wall face; the clips may be spot-welded at 5, in which case the portion 13 may be discontinuous, its central ends overlapping, inter-engaging as a tongue-and-slot, or being bent at right angles away from the part 5 to provide two abutting faces. The boards, cover strips and clips may form partitions without any other supporting structure or may be used as linings, e.g. as described in Specifications 634,251, 637,880 and 637,887.
