Abstract

The invention comprises two kinds of clips: a J clip and an H clip, wherein the H clip is two J clips spot welded together. The clips may include a countersink hole for receiving a screw which fixes the clip to a joist. A ceiling plasterboard inserted into the opening of the clip and the board is held there while the board is secured to the rest of the joist by screwing or nailing.

Description

Plasterboard suppo clips.
These are a couple of clips to aid the assembly of plasterboards to ceilings Without needing two people or resting the plasterboard on your head or propping it up at one end and screwing the other end to the ceiling joists.
There are two clips, a J' clip, (Fig: 1) and H' clip, (Fig: 2) the H' clip is two J' Clips spot welded together.
The J' clip has a countersunk hole in it for a screw. (Fig: 3) The J' clip is the starter clip and is screwed into the underside of ceiling joists against the wall of a room. (Fig: 4).
To start using the clips a S clip is screwed to the underside of every ceiling joist Against the wall along the width of the plasterboard (Fig: 4) Then the plasterboard is inserted into the J' clips and screwed to the joists at the Other end and is then screwed all the way alone back to the J' clips.
The J' clips are now mostly covered by the board and is intended to be left in place but is not intended to be a fastening device but just a temporary support whilst screwing or nailing is being done.
Another board may be required to be placed adjacent to the first one, this can be aided by using the H' clip by placing several H' clips over the end of the Plasterboard between the joists and inserting the second plasterboard into the H' clips and screwed to the joists.
The H' clips are also only intended to be temporary support for subsequent Plasterboards and some part the H' clip will be left visible but plastering of the Plasterboard to a final finish will cover up these.

Claims (6)

  1. Claims.1. Plasterboard support clips which aid in the quicker and easier fastening of plasterboards to ceilings comprising a J' clip and H' clip.
  2. 2. Plasterboard support clips according to claim 1 in which the ends of the clips have large radiused ends to aid plasterboard insertion.
  3. 3. Plasterboard support clips according to claim I in which the J' clip has a screw hole with countersunk flange for the aid of fastening to ceiling joists whilst managing to recess the screw head into the clip face.
  4. 4. Plasterboard support clips according to claim I in which the S clip is screwed to the ceiling joists against the wall to aid in support whilst the plasterboard is being fastened to the ceiling joists at the other end.
  5. 5. Plasterboard support clips according to claim I in which two J' clips are spot welded together to make H' clips which are used to support one plasterboard to another before the second plasterboard is fastened to the ceiling joists at the other end.
  6. 6. Plasterboard support clips according to claim 1 in which the gap between the clip faces is to be so that they fit closely to a 9.5mm or 12.5mm or any other industry standard thickness plasterboard.
