Abstract
Secondary alkyl sulphates are mixed with resinous materials and/or salts of resinous materials to form strongly lathering washing agents, shampoos and the like. From 15 to 50 per cent and preferably 30 to 40 per cent of resin and/or resinate are added. The resinous material such as colophony may either be dissolved in the alkyl sulphate solution or molten resin may be added to the dry alkaline alkyl sulphate. In an example, a 20 per cent solution of a secondary alkyl sulphate is heated with alkali and 30 per cent of coarsely-granulated colophony calculated upon the secondary alkyl sulphate stirred in. After cooling, the solution is rendered neutral and any other constituents such as glycerol, perfume, or colouring agents are added. For preparing a solid washing agent or shampoo, a secondary alkyl sulphate in solid form is kneaded with lye and 30 per cent molten resin and allowed to stand. Anhydrous sodium pyrophosphate or acid pyrophosphate may also be added to neutralize excess lye and increase the detergent power. Colouring matter and perfume may be added during the kneading.ALSO:Secondary alkyl sulphates are mixed with resinous materials and/or salts of resinous materials to form strongly lathering shampoos. From 15 to 50 per cent, preferably 30 to 40 per cent of resin and/or resinate are added. The resinous material such as colophony may be dissolved in the alkyl sulphate solution or molten resin may be added to the dry alkaline alkyl sulphate. In an example, a 20 per cent solution of a secondary alkyl sulphate is heated with alkali and 30 per cent of coarsely granulated colophony, calculated upon the secondary alkyl sulphate, is stirred in. After cooling, the solution is rendered neutral and any other constituents such as glycerol, perfume, or colouring agents, are added. For preparing a solid shampoo, a secondary alkyl sulphate in solid form is kneaded with lye and 30 per cent molten resin and allowed to stand. Anhydrous sodium pyrophosphate or acid pyrophosphate may be added to neutralise excess lye. Colouring matter and perfumes may be added during the kneading.
