Abstract

Coating and moulding compositions are produced by forming an aqueous dispersion of a polymerized vinyl compound. According to examples:--(1) Glycerin, saponin, toluol and water are mixed together, and powdered polymerized styrol is then added, preferably at a raised temperature. More water is then added to produce a coating liquid. The dried coating may be heated to melt the polymerized styrol. Softening agents such as chlor-diphenyl compounds or glycerinphthalic acid resins may be present. (2) Resin saponified with potassium carbonate is used instead of saponin, and benzene instead of toluol, while the polystyrol is added in the form of a solution. (3) The polystyrol is added in the form of a solution in styrol and toluol. Alcohol or acids may be added to the pastes or emulsions of the above-mentioned examples, and the solid substances thereby separated may be used for making moulded bodies.ALSO:Coating and moulding compositions are produced by forming an aqueous dispersion of a polymerized vinyl compound.
