Abstract

1,143,921. Cleansing agent. I/S ROSENKRANTZ & JORGENSEN. 11 Feb., 1966 [15 Feb., 1965], No. 6181/66. Heading C5D. A gas generating agent is added to the hot washing liquid used in washing clothes in a closed container to increase the pressure therein. The gas produced is preferably fairly insoluble in the washing solution. The gas may be produced by the evaporation of liquid boiling in the 20-40‹ C. range which may be insoluble in water so as to produce an additional dry cleaning effect. A detergent additive may be included which is soluble in the volatile liquid which may be chlorotrifluoromethane, b.p. 21‹ C. Detergent additives may be alkyl benzene sulfonate, adducts of ethylene oxide and phenol, fatty alcohols, fatty amines and fatty acids. The gas generating agent may be a mixture of equimolar amounts of sodium hydrogen carbonate and tartaric acid. Preferably, the washing composition is placed in a bag, e.g. of gelatine, which is destroyed during washing.
