Abstract

650,468. Internally expanding brakes. RENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Feb. 9, 1948, No. 3782. Convention date, Feb. 7, 1947. Addition to 580,588. [Class 103 (i)] A two shoe internal drum brake of the type described in the parent Specification is characterized principally in that the retraction spring 34 is located between the anchor 24 and the adjacent surface of the drum and in that the spring 34 is deflected laterally by a projecting member 50 so as to urge the brake shoes axially into engagement with ledges 48 on the support member thus preventing, through friction, vertical as well as lateral displacement of the shoes. A. further retraction spring 46 is also provided, the arrangement being such that the moment of spring 34 about the adjusters 40 is greater than that of the spring 46.
