650,414. Internal shoe-drum brake. GIRLING, Ltd. July 12, 1948, No. 18623. Addition to 623,797. [Class 103 (i)] An internal shoedrum brake of the type described in the parent Specification, in which a portion of the friction lining is resiliently urged away from the shoe so as to project from the rest of the lining and is held in light rubbing contact with the brake drum when the brake is " off," is characterised in that frictional means are provided for damping the radial movement of a spring-loaded member that urges out the projecting portion of the lining. As shown, the frictional damping means is a small spring m, that clamps the spring-loaded plunger f against the shoe web. The projection of the shoe lining is limited by the clearance of screw j in hole k.
