Abstract
648,697. Transformers. ETABLISSEMENTS MERLIN & GERIN. Oct. 9, 1947, No. 27113. Convention date, March 11, 1939. [Class 38 (ii)] A cooling device for electrical transformers comprises metallic plates 1 inserted between the coil windings 2 and extending so far as to project into corrugations 3 in the walls of the tank 4, quartz crystals 5 being distributed in the tank between the plates and the corrugated walls. The quartz crystals are suitably sized to obtain a good packing coefficient and the tank is closed by a cover so as to obtain an air-tight construction which needs no special breather apparatus, is practically fire-proof and has an improved rate of heat dissipation. Similar plates may be provided to cool the cores and yokes. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the subject matter of Specification 656,458. This subject matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
