647,478. Impedance networks. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. May 7, 1947, No. 12378. Convention date, May 10, 1946. [Class 40 (viii)] In a circuit for producing a sawtooth current in a coil of inductance L and resistance r by applying a voltage pulse across it, the linearity of the sawtooth current is improved by connecting the coil in parallel with a further coil of inductance L2 and resistance r2 and the two parallel connected coils in series with a coil of inductance L1 of resistance r1, the auxiliary coils being such that r2/L2 is greater than R/L and r1/L1 is smaller than r/L + r2/2L2 . Further relationships between the values of the components are derived for further improvement in linearity. In a modification shown in Fig. 3 the linearity is still further improved by connecting a capacitor C2 in series with the auxiliary coil (L2, r2) of such a value that C2 is equal to L1L/L2 (r1 r2 + rr2 + rr1)
