Abstract

1,011,991. Discharge lamp circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 2, 1964 [April 5, 1963], No. 13643/64. Heading H2H. In a discharge tube 5 circuit having a series choke 3 and capacitor 4, the volt ampere rating of the choke may be reduced to 0.9 to 1.15 of that of the tube by connecting an additional capacitor 8 having an impedance of 30 to 50 times the tube impedance either across the tube, or in series with the free ends of the electrodes 6, 7. The inductance of the choke 3 may be incorporated in a leakage transformer. The capacitor 8 has a value of 0.9 m.f.d. for a 40-watt tube.
