Abstract

1,092,199. Discharge lamp circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 23, 1965 [July 28, 1964], No. 31447/65. Heading H2H. A discharge lamp 1 in addition to being supplied through an inductor 2 from a first source of between 30 and 100 c.p.s. is fed from second source of at least six times the frequency and not more than twice the voltage through a second impedance 5. It is stated that the addition of the second source will permit a lower voltage difference between the first source and the lamp; also, voltage fluctuations have less effect on lamp current. Details are given in the Specification of relative voltages, frequencies, and series impedances 2, 5 for sodium and 1.p. mercury vapour lamps. A common source 4 may be used for a number of lamps, each having a separate capacitive impedance.
