Abstract

647,412. Casting in situ. KING, V. R. Jan. 22, 1948, No. 1965. [Class 20(ii) A collapsable core for use in forming concrete cavity walls, sewers or chimney stacks comprises a hollow shell having flexible arcuate members X and flat plates MP each connected together by a slotted tubular member TS which engages over flanges FH. The members TS have holes to receive a frame SF. To collapse the core, the members TS on one side of the core are raised while those on the other side are held fixed, the frame SF thus pivots out of a horizontal plane and draws the members TS together as shown in the upper part of the Figure. Tie members are shaped to engage between the cores. Cores may be used side by side and end to end. Members RL help to support the inward pressure of the concrete. In a modification, the transverse rods of the frame SF may be replaced by plates which have holes to receive the longitudinal rods. The edges of the plates abut against the plates MP.
