Abstract

954,390. Collapsible cores. ECROFNIER & PARTNERS Ltd. Sept. 25, 1962 [Sept. 25, 1961], No. 34323/61. Heading B5A. A collapsible core for use in moulding concrete &c., comprises a mechanism to expand or collapse the core to which plates of different dimensions or shapes may be releasably attached, so that a variety of core sizes may be obtained. Longitudinally spaced bearing blocks 1 separated by rigid bars 2 are slidably mounted upon a shaft 3. Blocks 4 mounted on shaft 3 for movement therewith, are connected, through links 5, to the pads 8 which releasably carry side walls 9 (which may be of various sizes, as shown in Fig. la) by means of spring clips 11. Lateral movement of the pads 8 is guided by members 10 which are slidable in block 1. The upper and lower walls 13 are releasably carried upon pads 14 by a series of clips 17 each of which slides over the bevelled surfaces 16 of the pads (see Fig. 1a). The pads are connected through links 23 to blocks 24 which are carried by the shaft 3, the lateral movement of the pads being guided by members 15 slidable in the block 1. To accommodate side walls of various sizes, adaptors 18 comprising pads similar to 14 are clipped on to the pads 14 and the upper and lower walls clipped on to the adaptors as before (Figs. 6, 7, not shown). The core is expanded and collapsed by longitudinal movement of the shaft 3 which movement may be furnished by screwing the rod into or out of one of the blocks 1 as shown in Fig. 1. Several units may be joined together by coupling members as in Figs. 4, 5 (not shown).
