910,067. Casting concrete pipes. WACKER, H., and WACKER, P. May 1, 1961 [May 3, 1960], No. 15622/61. Class 87(2). In a method of manufacture of concrete pipes a concrete mix is enclosed between a moulding jacket 2, a core 1, a fixed mould closure ring 6 and a displaceable mould closure ring 8, and is compressed by pressure transmitted to the rings by two elements 10, 13 displaceable relative to each other, one element 13 exerting a pulling action on the ring 6 and the other element 10 exerting pressure on the ring 8. The element 10 is fixed to a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder 11, the piston and rod 12 of which are fixed to the element 13. In operation, the ring 6 is secured to the jacket 2 by anchoring means 7, and after filling the moulding space with a concrete mix 4 the ring 8 is placed in position. Claws 14 on the element 13 are placed in engagement with a flange 9 attached to the jacket 2. The cylinder 11 is actuated to raise and lower the elements 13 and 10 respectively so that the rings 6, 8 are moved together to compress the concrete mix which may also be vibrated by detachable vibrators 5.
