Abstract

1417106 Injection moulding pipe joints WILLIAM PRESS & SON Ltd 14 Nov 1972 [1 Sept 1971] 40762/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] A method of sealing a spigot and socket joint 4 between pipe sections 5, 6 comprises disposing mould halves 1, 2 to define a generally annular cavity around the joint, introducing a curable fluid sealing compound into the cavity via an inlet 8, exerting a pressure on the compound to force it into gaps in the joint and maintaining this pressure whilst the compound cures, and removing the mould halves to leave the compound around the joint in a hardened state. In the embodiment shown the pressure on the compound is produced by a cylinder (10) and ram (11) carried by mould half 2 (Fig. 5, not shown). The mould may be of a flexible PVC.
