Abstract

PURPOSE: To greatly omit the operation and to improve the efficiency, by using constraining rings for clamping split metallic molds and by obtaining axial compressive force by pushing blank materials from one side.
CONSTITUTION: When a high pressure is supplied into a blank pipe 1 from a pressure supplying path 58 and the right side end face of the blank pipe 1 is pushed by stretching forces of each cylinder device 60, 61, and 62, the blank pipe 1 partially swells along depressed parts of a split metallic mold 19. Since this axial compression is performed from the right side only, only a simple and inexpensive structure is required. When a high pressure is supplied into the blank pipe 1 from the pressure supplying path 58 during the course of working, the split metallic mold 19 tends to split outward, but the splitting of the metallic mold 19 is prevented by each constraining ring 30 and 31. Moreover, since each constraining ring 30 and 31 clamps the split metallic mold 19 through tapered surfaces, they are easy to disengage. But the disengagement of the constraining rings 30 and 31 is prevented by stretching force always generated by each cylinder device 32, 33, 34, and 35.
