Abstract
1463593 Moulding groyne elements BALLAST-NEDAM GROEP NV 17 May 1974 [18 May 1973] 22193/74 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] A collapsible core and mould are used to form a groyne element 2 (Fig. 2, sectional plan and Fig. 3, elevational section) comprising a hollow block having a central whirl chamber 49 and passages 48 leading to the central chamber through each face of the block. As described, a mould comprises a base 9, four side walls 11 and a lid 12, each. supporting inwardly projecting, truncated pyramidal cores 13, 14 for defining the passages 48. The walls 11 are hinged to the base 9, and a filling aperture is closable by a plug 18. The mould is positioned at a filling station on a fixed base 1 within an external, fixed framework 47 (see Figs. 2 and 3) and surrounding an internal fixed framework 26 (Fig. 5). The walls 11 are locked in position by an hydraulically operated, pivoted link bolt (53) (see Figs. 8, 9, not shown) mounted on the external framework 47. The walls are additionally clamped together by frames 6 (Fig. 2) forced against the exterior of the walls by articulated links 8 pivoted to the exterior framework 47, and operated by hydraulic cylinders 36 (see also Fig. 6, not shown). Interior gaps 20 between the mould walls are sealed by wooden fillets 32 forced into position by interior mould parts 21 (Fig. 5). These are moved to position, and the lid 12 engaged by clamps 30, by articulated links 24, 28 pivoted to the internal framework 26 and operated by hydraulic cylinders 31. The positioned and clamped mould is filled with concrete mortar 2 (Fig. 2) and vibrated by vibrators (7) (see Fig. 1, not shown) attached to the frames 6, or by a vibrator (51) (Fig. 9) mounted on the base 1 (Fig. 3) which is resiliently supported on the ground. After moulding, the mould with the groyne element is lifted away from the clamps at the filling station, and the element stripped from the mould after hardening on a conveyer system.
