320,629. Kuert, I. J. April 12, 1928. Divided on 317,337, [Class 20 (ii), Buildings and structures, Miscellaneous accessories &c.]. Cores.-Collapsable cores for forming holes in concrete and like materials consist of four angular metal walls 132, angle bars 140, 150, and a central operating bar 155 actuated by a handle 165 and provided with wedges 156 which engage wedges 152 on the bars 150 to vary the width of the core, and inclined slots 160 which engage crossbars 141 to vary the thickness of the core. Flat or other springs 142 tend to collapse the core. Auxiliary bars 176, slotted similarly to the bar 155, also engage, the bars 141 and are connected by a crossbar 175 to the bar 155. The width of the core may be increased by flat plates placed between the overlapping edges of the walls 132. Fig. 9 shows a modified central bar consisting of two members 190 connected by crossed links 191. Several cores may be joined end to end by chains 182 attached to the bars 155, 176 so that the cores' are collapsed in succession.
