Abstract

647,228. Electrolytic production of magnesium alloys. FERRIERE, G., and GLAZUNOV, A. Dec. 15, 1947, No. 32976. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1946. [Class 41] A magnesium-base alloy is prepared directly from crude chloride which is chlorinated, heated until a liquid phase is obtained and then subjected to electrolysis. The furnace for electrolysis is of the type used in the production of 'magnesium, using a fused electrolyte. Barium chloride may be added to the electrolyte before electrolysis.
