Abstract
Aluminium fluoride is produced by treating a solution of hydrofluoboric acid with aluminium hydroxide, e.g. at 60 DEG C. to boiling point, drying the precipitate up to 100 DEG C. and finally heating to 300-500 DEG C. Preferably, the precipitation takes place in the presence of 5-10 grams/litre hydrous aluminium fluoride acting as seed. The hydrofluoboric acid employed should contain no sodium ions. Specification 647,216 is referred to.
