Abstract

646,869. Securing bearing-races on shafts. DEXTER & CO. (HIGH WYCOMBE), Ltd., and McVEY, G. April 27, 1948, No. 11565. [Class 80(ii)] The inner race of a standard parallelbore ball or roller bearing is secured on a shaft B by an interposed split sleeve A, having a cylindrical surface accommodating the race and a flange 5 against which the race is held solely by axial pressure of a screwed ring D, the sleeve being clamped on the shaft by complementary coned surfaces on one of its ends and on a nut F, and also on a split extension 12 of the screwed ring D, and a locking nut E screwing on the said ring. The sleeve A has one continuous split and other splits extending only as far as the flange 5 on both sides.
