Abstract

1378684 Securing bearing races on shafts SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO BV 18 Feb 1972 [19 Feb 1971] 7717/72 Heading F2U An annular component, such as an inner bearing race 6 or machine part, is mounted on a cylindrical surface on a shaft 2, or in a bore in a housing, by an interposed sleeve 3 having a conical surface drawn into a complementary surface in the race or machine part by a lock-ring 10, having projections 11 which pass axially between one or more cams 7 on or in a cylindrical portion of the sleeve 3, the ring 10 being thereafter turned to cause the projections 11 to ride up the cams 7, thereby applying axial load to the sleeve. The ring 10 is locked by a grub screw 12 or tab-washer.
