644,370. Propellants ; rocket propulsion. ETUDES & CONTROLES INDUSTRIELS. March 13, 1947, No. 6987. Convention date, June 5, 1940. [Classes 9 (i) and 9 (ii)] A self-propelling unit of the reaction type is charged with a propellant consisting of a mixture containing a chlorate or perchlorate of an alkali metal coated with an organic substance of viscous or plastic consistency, e.g. castor oil, paraffin, petroleum jelly, or tar, such as cheddite, and compressed. The mixture may also contain a nitrate of an alkali metal, and an oxide of manganese or lead.
