Abstract

643,812. Screw clamps. CHRISTENSEN, W. S. March 25, 1948, No. 8769. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXX] A device for securing a rope or cable which comprises a bolt 2 on which is screwed a circular base plate 1 and on which is loosely mounted a pressure disc 3 in face to face relationship with the base plate which has a plurality of rope or cable receiving grooves or recesses 10- 13 of different sizes in the surface adjacent the disc each pair of grooves or recesses being so positioned relatively to the bolt that a rope or cable 21 can be looped around the bolt and accommodated in the grooves or recesses of suitable size. and nut 5 on the bolt presses the disc against the base plate to clamp the rope or cable. A boss 15 in the centre of the base plate embraces the bolt around which the rope passes. A washer 4 is interposed between the screw means 5 and the disc 3, the washer and disc having complementary part spherical surfaces. The undersurface of the base plate 1 is provided with slots 9 so that the plate securely grips the framework 8 when the device is secured thereto.
