Class 44 Two members to be secured together under strain are supported in spaced relation by a single externally threaded male member engaged adjustably in an internally threaded female member. In the form of Fig. 1 two angle section members 12 are secured together by a bolt 13 and nut 14. Tipping of the members 12 is prevented by an adjustable distance piece comprising a sleeve 11 screwing into a nut 10. The parts 10, 11 may be locked by a locking washer having deformable tongues or the head end of the bolt 13 may be formed with a square engaging in a square socket of the sleeve 11. The bolt may be replaced by a stud with nuts at each end or stud parts may be formed integrally with each distance piece member, the member 11 carrying a lock nut to secure the parts in adjusted position. In the form of Fig. 4 the ends 20 of the strap of a band clip are wrapped around plate members 19 drawn together by a bolt 17 with the members 10, 11 to prevent tipping. In the form. of Fig. 5 the strap ends 20 are clamped between plates 19 and L section members 21, the members 21 being cast with triangular side cheeks. Apertured lugs may be provided on each side of the members 21 to receive bolts additional to or replacing the bolt 17, the distance pieces 10, 11 acting as before. In the form of Fig. 10 the screw member 11 and sleeve member 10 are each formed with end flanges 37 and engage in collars 40 which may be connected with the ends 39 of the strap of a band clip. One of the collars may be split and have a tightening screw for taking up wear.
