Abstract

513,368. Screw-fastenings. BULLOCH, D. C. April 7, 1938, Nos. 10733 and 12370. [Classes 44 and 89 (i)] A nut and bolt type of fastening for clamping two surfaces together or for securing one surface to another member involves a bolt 2, nut 3, conical spring 5, and an aperture 7 in one of the surfaces through which the spring is threaded and the bolt passes. A washer 8 has ears 14 (Fig. 5) which are folded down over a yoke member 9, and apertures 12 through which the limbs of the yoke pass. The limbs also pass through channels 11 in the nut 3 which is screw threaded for engaging the bolt and stepped at 4 for the spring 5. The fastening means is particularly adapted for use in inaccessible positions. In a modification, shown in Fig. 7, the relative position of the nut 3 and bolt head 2a is reversed, the yoke and washer are omitted and the plates to be joined have each an aperture and are superposed.
