560,515. Piston packing ; stuffing-box packing. ANGUS & CO., Ltd., G., and SAKER, P. R. Feb. 3, 1943, No. 1793. [Classes 122 (i) and 122 (v)] A cup hat or U packing is bonded to a rigid metal, synthetic resin &c., washer b having an axially directed abutment bl which limits the amount of compression which can be exerted on the packing. Flange b may have a second flange b<2> supporting the base of the packing or may be serrated or perforated to improve adhesion. A second packing may be secured to the opposite side of the washer which is then provided with another axial abutment extending in the opposite direction. Specifications 481,331 and 542,300 are referred to.
