Abstract

1,184,033. Tension indicating washer. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. 15 Feb., 1968 [16 Feb., 1967], No. 7480/68. Heading F2H. A washer for use with a screw connection for giving a visible indication of the clamping force on tightening of the connection comprises an incision 12 running around its outer peripheral edge 11a and accommodating a body 13 which emerges from the said edge upon the attainment of a predetermined adequate clamping force. The incision may be parallel sided and open towards the inside into a chamber and the body 13 may be a viscous coloured substance. Alternatively the incision may be wedgeshaped and the body 13 also wedge-shaped.
