Abstract

642,216. Valve generating circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. April 30, 1948, No. 11891. [Class 40 (vi)] A frequency doubling circuit comprises an input circuit tuned to the basic frequency and comprising a pair of parallel wires 1, 1<SP>1</SP> adjustably bridged at 3 and connected in push-pull to the grids of valves 2, 2<SP>1</SP>. An output at the doubled frequency is taken in parallel between the anodes and cathodes of the valves which are connected in pairs as shown to the outer and inner conductors 4<SP>1</SP>, 4 of a concentric line resonator tunable by a bridge 5. An input at the basic frequency is coupled in by a loop 6, and an output at the double frequency is taken from a loop 7. The input loop is tuned by a variable condenser 8 after the initial adjustment of the bridge 3. This enables the line 1, 1<SP>1</SP> to be made shorter and also, since the condenser is connected between points which are at the same potential with regard to the output frequency, the input circuit can be tuned without affecting the output circuit. Thus the output circuit is tuned first.
