Abstract
659,067. Valve amplifying circuits. BRITISH ACOUSTIC FILMS, Ltd. Nov. 20, 1947, No. 30778. [Class 40 (vi)] The capacity effect of the screened input to a multistage thermionic amplifier is reduced by connecting the screen to a point in the amplifier where a voltage appears in phase with the input, and the current flowing is greater than that in the first stage. As shown, the input lead W of the first stage V1 of a three-stage amplifier has a screen S, the stray capacity of the lead to earth being shown at C2. The feed-back voltage developed across a resistance R1 in the cathode circuit of V1 together with the voltage across variable resistance R2, connected between the cathode end of the resistance R1 and a resistance R3 in the cathode circuit of the output valve V3 are applied to the screen S, and may be equal to the input voltage or greater than the input voltage in which case attenuation due to the stray capacity C2 may be compensated. A peak in the amplifier response at high frequencies may be obtained by producing a phase change in the amplifier as by condenser C3.
