[Class 140] An apron for use in connection with textile machinery, comprises a layer 29 of longitudinally arranged fibre cords, e.g. of nylon, interposed between a fibre contacting layer 30 and a roller contacting layer 28 said roller contacting layer comprising a tough black rubber composition containing carbon black filler and said fibre contacting layer comprising a soft rubber composition free from carbon black. Both roller and fibre contacting layers may comprise butadiene copolymers, e.g. styrene-butadiene or acrylic nitrile-butadiene copolymers. The outer surface of the fibre contacting layer may be roughened to enhance its gripping action.
