539,907. Compound sheet materials. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., LORD, W., and BRAZIER, S. A. June 14, 1940, No. 10363. [Class 140] Compound sheet material comprises a sheet 1 of flexible buoyant material, e.g. kapok, wool, alpaca or rabbit hair quilted between two plies of cloth 2, such as cotton cashmere and a ply of cloth 3 such as a union or cotton cashmere proofed with rubber 4 by which it is adhered to a face of the quilted construction. In a modification the ply of cloth 3 is coated on the outer surface with rubber 4 and adhered by adhesive 5. The ply of cloth 2 which ultimately constitutes an outer face of the compound sheet may be proofed on one or both sides before incorporation.
