486,215. Elastic compound fabrics. HOOPER, E. J. Jan. 12, 1937, No. 956. Drawings to Specification. [Class 140] A laminated, elastic, ventilated fabric comprises a rubber layer and an elastic textile fabric layer, adhesively united, the rubber layer being formed with a series of wells tapering to a point, the pointed ends of the wells lying substantially in the plane of adhesion so as to produce apertures only when the rubber is stretched. An incompletely vulcanized rubber sheet is united by an adhesive such as rubber cement to an elastic fabric, and the composite sheet run through a pair of rollers, that contacting with the rubber having tapered puncturing points, and the other being covered with paper, the adjustments being such that the points barely pass through the rubber. The vulcanization of the rubber is then completed. An open loosely knit or woven fabric may be cemented to the other side of the rubber layer before puncturing.
