[Class 140] Compound sheet material for coverings or linings is made by covering a felt base on one or both sides with crepe or corrugated paper to which is subsequently applied an adhesive coating, e.g. of rubber solution or latex, which penetrates the paper and causes it to adhere to the base. A sheet of open or coarse woven textile material may be interposed between the felt and paper. The base may comprise two or more layers of felt having different degrees of closeness or density felted or adhered together.
