Abstract

<PICT:0641917/IV (a)/1> <PICT:0641917/IV (a)/2> <PICT:0641917/IV (a)/3> A sealed terminal mounting in an apertured plate 1 comprises a bush 2 of polytetrafluorethylene which is compressed in the aperture by a pointed rod or tubiform terminal 3 and the plate, the compression being effected by expanding the bore of the bush by the insertion of the member 3. In a modification, Fig. 5, the bush is tubulous and is distorted in a bell-mouthed aperture by a screw having a coned head 3b and nut 3d of which the lengths may be equal or different. In a further modification, the cones are short and steep to effect axial compression of the bush, there being no bell-mouthed aperture. A spindle 3 can also be sealed in an aperture having a housing 1a for the bush, Fig. 8. If the rod 3 is a tube, the mounting can be used to pour liquid from a container.
