[Also in Division H1] Electrical connection between a potentiometer outside, and an electrode within, the envelope of a mercury vapour rectifier (see Division H1) is made by a hollow metal bolt 24, Fig. 3, extending through an aperture in the envelope and having a flange 25 at its open end, between which and the envelope wall is clamped a sealing ring 29 by the action of the spring 31, which may be adjustably compressed by the screw 30. The metal plate 27 is urged into contact with the electrode (not shown) by the action of the spring 28 on the supporting rod 26.
