[Class 120(ii)] The pressing roller of a textile drawing head mounted to turn or slide away from its associated drawing roller when a retaining member holding it in position is displaced, is carried by plungers guided to slide in a pivoting or sliding support and is pressed towards the drawing roller by springs or weights in such a manner that they assist the movement of the pressing roller away from the drawing roller when the retaining member is displaced. In one embodiment, a pressing roller 3 is carried in a fork member 7 having tubular arms which receive spring-pressed plungers 6. The fork member 7 is pivoted at 10 on the end of a horn bracket 11 fixed on a crossbar 12. Pressure of the pressing roller against its associated roller is adjustable by bushes. such as 17, locked by nuts 18. The fork member 7 is latched in operative position by a latch 19 pivoted at 20 and notched for engaging a pin 21 on the fork member 7. A stem 23 projects from the latch 19 and has a knob 24 on its end for operating the latch by hand. The latch 19 may be lifted automatically on the occurrence of a lap on either of rollers 1, 3 by arranging an eccentric roller 28 to raise the latch 19 when contacted by the roller 3. A pin 25 on a tailpiece of the latch 19 may serve to depress an arm 14 of a stop mechanism, such as is disclosed in Specification 640,993 thereby stopping further delivery of sliver to the drawing head. Instead of pivoting about the pin 10, the fork member may be slidable on guide rods, or be equipped with rollers to move readily along runways. In another modification, the pressing roller may be loaded by weights and the latch 19 be replaced by a slotted lever.
