Abstract

125,682. Sharp, P. Jan. 28, 1918, Delivery, stopping; thread-guides.-The roving passes through a guide 4, Fig. 1, at the end of a spring-controlled lever 1, between the rollers 5, 8, and under the feeler 11 to the flyer 9. When the roving breaks, the lever 1 is released and the roving moved into the groove 7 on the rollers 5. The feeler 11 is pivoted at 12<a> in a casing 3 and is substantially balanced. Its upper end carries a latch 14 engaging under a plate 18 on a pivoted piece 19. When the end breaks, the feeler 11 falls and raises the member 19, until the latch 14 escapes from under the plate 18, when the member 19 falls back, and a pin 21, Fig. 5, on its upper end engages a spring-held trigger piece 22, and releases a pivoted catch 24 from a snag 27 on the lever 1, allowing the lever to move about its pivot 2. The raising of the member 19 releases a weighted tumbler 30 from the abutment 28 on the member 19. To restore the parts to their operative position, the lever 1 is moved. back by hand. A catch 31 on the lever forces over the tumbler 30 and thereby raises the member 19. The lever 1 is locked again by the catch 24 engaging the snag 27. The plate 18 on the member 19 is slightly curved at its ends to facilitate the sliding off, and the bringing to rest of the latch 14 on the feeler 11. The mechanism is put out of action for doffing purposes when the frame is stopped, by spring plungers 41 operated by cams 40 on a hand-operated rod 42 and adapted to engage the tumblers 30. The feelers 11 can all be simultaneously lifted past their normal position and then lowered to engage the threads on the re-starting of the frame by means of a series of cams 45 on a rod 44 which engage levers 46 with bowls 48 acting on the feelers. The usual thread-guide between the rollers 8 and the fliers 9 is dispensed with and a guide formed in the end of the arm 12 on the feeler 11.
