640,926. Ignition magnetos. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. May 23, 1947, No. 13951. Convention date, May 23, 1946. [Class 35] In a rotary magnet ignition magneto the coils 10 are mounted on cones 54 bridging the ends of pairs of stator pole shoes as 13, 131, the core being secured in position by the leaf springs 57 curled at their ends 58, 59 so as to engage suitable notches 55, 56 in the core and the stator shoes respectively. As shown in Fig. 2, the magneto frame 15 is supported on the driving machine frame 60 by means of a spigot portion having a flat top 62 and a peripheral groove 64 and which fits into a recess 64 in the magneto frame. The magneto is secured in position by adjustable spring clamps 68 having arms 69 which partly embrace the groove and are secured by screws 66 which pass through slots in the clamps to allow withdrawal from the groove. The construction described is almost identical with that of Specification 640,925. Specification 514,174 also is referred to.
