Abstract
640,875. Condensers. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 22, 1948, No. 24798. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1947. [Class 37] In an electric condenser each electrode, e.g. 1, is enclosed in a sheet of dielectric 4 which is folded around at least one edge 6 of the electrode and extends' over the greater part of the opposed faces of the electrode, whereby the same face of the dielectric sheet is adjacent opposed faces of the electrode. In practice the sheet 4 extends beyond the edge 5 of the electrode 1 remote from the edge 6. Two electrodes 1 and 2 so insulated are superimposed with their enclosed edges 6 and 8 in opposition, and then rolled or folded into compact form. In a modification, Fig. 4, both electrodes 19 and 20 are enclosed in the same dielectric sheet which is previously folded into an S-shape. In a thirdmodification, Fig. 6 (not shown), each electrode is slid into a flattened cylinder of dielectric sheet, and the two electrodes are superimposed, and rolled or folded as before.
