640,624. Transformers and inductances. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. June 18, 1948, No. 16407. Convention date, Oct. 3, 1947. Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (ii)] A heavy current coil winding for transformers and other electrical apparatus comprises one or more turns, separated by insulation, of copper sheet or other electricallyconducting material wound on the flat side, the ends of the sheet being divided into strips in the peripheral direction, the strips then being folded from the peripheral direction into the axial direction. Flexible leads to the coil are thus formed without joints so obviating hot spots. The insulation may be formed with axial ribs or may be axially corrugated to assist cooling of the coil. Insulated rivets or bolts may be used to keep the coil assembly together.
