Abstract
639,907. Two-part couplings; caps for discharge tubes. CINCH MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. Jan. 30, 1948, No. 2850. Convention date, Jan. 30, 1947. [Class 38 (i)] In a plug-and-socket connector for a kinescope tube of the type wherein the socket is embedded in the wall of the tube, the socket comprises a cup-shaped member 6 having an inturned flange 10 at its open side which clamps an apertured plate 7 between itself and the inclined wall 9 of the member 6. The latter is connected to the internal circuit of the tube by a carbon lining 4 on the inner surface of the tube. The plug comprises a'metal tube 19 having a bulbous head 21 at one end from which slots 23 extend longitudinally, dividing the tube 19 into resilient portions 24, the greater part of the tube being covered by an insulating sleeve 33 having a flange 34 at its outer end forming a guard. The head 21 is pressed through the aperture 13 in the plate 7, the walls 14 thereof and the base of the member 6 making contact therewith. A lead 32 is secured by solder in a cup 30 at the opposite end of the tube 19, the joint being covered by the sleeve 33. In an alternative form of socket, Fig. 8, the base 17 of the cup-shaped member has a neck 16 drawn therefrom.
