Abstract

Chromium oleate, preferably substantially anhydrous, is used as a lubricant for metal drawing, rolling or like metal working operations. It may be used neat or in the form of an emulsion or solution and the medium may be allowed to evaporate before use. Chlorinated solvents or petroleum hydrocarbon solvents may be used or a composition for an aqueous emulsion may be prepared with mineral lubricating oil, other water insoluble organic liquids and stabilizers as used in the preparation of "soluble oil bases".
