Abstract

638,601. Hand trucks. MONTGOMERY, F. M. Jan. 5, 1948, No. 346. [Class 78 (iii)] An industrial truck is provided with means rotatable by man-power to drive a supporting wheel and to drive elevating mechanism selectively. As applied to a low-lift truck, the channel member 12 is supported on the gearcase 23 carried on the axle 29 connecting the supporting wheels 9. Pivotally connected by levers 15, 16 to the member 12 is another channel member 11 which carries the fork 10. To elevate the fork 10 a jack 20 is provided between the channel section member 19 secured to channel member 12 and the I-beam 18 carried by the channel member 11. When cranks 45 are rotated the platform may be elevated or the truck propelled by selective engagement of the clutches 30, 8 respectively. The elevating and propelling mechanisms may also be foot-operated.
