Admission of fluid pressure alternately to each cylinder is controlled by valves operated by electrically controlled timing means. The rack engages a gearwheel 59 carrying a crank 54 linked (56) to a slide 40 which is connected to a cross-head 33 linked (34) to the levers 4, 5 carrying the shears.
