Abstract
636,475. Centrifugal separator. TECALEMIT, Ltd., and LE CLAIR, C. C. S. Jan. 17, 1947, No. 1647. [Class 23] The liquid to be cleaned passes through a number o: annular chambers 34 35 provided witl traps 46, 43 to retair the heavier material Fig. 1 shows one arrangement in which liquid passes up a hollow spindle 24, through ports 3' into the first chamber 34, then is forced through ports 42 into the outer chamber 35, cleaned liquid being led away, or pumped, through ducts 39, 29. The bowl 10 is spun ir bearings 3, 4, being driven through a gear 7 preferably from an engine in a casing 5. In modified arrangements, the liquid may flow through three or more chambers. The traps may be cast in aluminium or formed of " Bakelite " (Registered Trade Mark), or materials described in Specification 636,505. The liquid may be pumped into the separator. The bowl may be driven by clutch means described in Specification 569.650.
