Abstract
636,061. Manually-actuated valves. TRUBERT, R. E. L. Aug. 26, 1947, No. 23511. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1945. [Class 135] A water tap has its cam control members separated from the water conduit by a spring- loaded closure diaphragm. As the handle 10 is rotated, cam surfaces 14 on the handle cooperate with cam surfaces 13 on the body to lift the rod 7 against the spring 9 so that the diaphragm valve 5 is opened by the waterpressure. The cams are so inclined that the handle will stay in any set position. The invention may be adapted to a conventional tap by screwing a tubular flanged intermediate member into the tap body to provide a seating for the diaphragm. In two modifications, in which the inlet and outlet are at right angles, a flanged cylindrical member is screwed into the tap body and has an upstanding externallyribbed part, the ribs engaging ribs on a ring member carrying the cam surfaces 14, so that the ring may be adjusted in order to set the handle in any desired direction. In a further modification, the handle is smoothly contoured in alignment with the outlet.
